Kukis observe black day for brethren killed by NSCNIM

IMPHAL: Kuki organizations in Manipur are observing the 25th Sahnit-Ni (Kuki Black Day) in Churachandpur district headquarters to mourn and pray for hundreds of Kukis who were killed by NSCN(I-M) militants in the Nineties. A film on Kuki Black Day and a souvenir were also released. 'The Kukis, according to leaders of the community, also pledged to uphold the cause of sacrifice made by thousands of Kukis and ensure justice to them. Leaders of the Sahnit-Ni observation committee said 'the Kukis have taken a pledge to uphold human rights and continue to fight for justice this year. The Sahnit-Ni observance, which began on Tuesday, will continue for three days.Between 1992 and 1997, nearly 1,000 innocent Kukis, including women and children, were killed and 360 Kuki villages were uprooted in NSCN(I-M) attacks, turning over 1 lakh villagers refugees in their own land..
