Shutdown cripples life in Imphal on Modi visit day

Owing to the shutdown, business establishments in Imphal remained closed and very few vehicles were seen on the roads. Though state transport buses plied, inter-state passenger buses and goods trucks were off the road.The shutdown also hit life in other valley districts, including Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching . It alleged that Modi's visit is meant to strengthen New Delhi's rule and spread the message to the world that Manipur is an integral part of India. IMPHAL: Life was paralyzed in Imphal on Friday owing to a 'total shutdown' imposed by the Coordinating Committee (CorCom) of four prominent underground organisations and other outlawed groups to denounce Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's Manipur visit.The CorCom, which comprises United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Revolutionary People's Front (RPF), People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Prepak) and People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, Progressive ( Prepak-Pro), also boycotted the PM's visit.
