Summary:

INDORE: In order to curb road accidents on the outskirts, the National Highway Authority of India ( NHAI ) with the help of city traffic police has started marking of main and service lanes of Indore bypass “We are doing road marking on all service and main lanes of the bypass road. “Apart from lane division, lane boards are also being installed for proper guidance of vehicles as per their weight and speed category,” they said. There are several junctions, which have become accident-prone, at the bypass road. “Bypass junctions such as Bicholi Mardana require small rotary as motorist coming and going from under bridges often get into the way of each other thus leading to traffic jams,” they said. “As these lanes are used for two way traffic and it becomes difficult for heavy vehicles especially during night hour to drive,” he added.Officials also said that they had also demanded for under-bridges along the bypass to develop rotary to avoid traffic jam. This work is being done to control and guide traffic,” said NHAI project director Ravindra Gupta. He said that the work also includes installation of retro-reflective devices such as ‘cat eye’ which either reflects light falling on them or blinks at important locations.Officials said that this work will cover 45 km stretch of the bypass, which will also include marking of all four main lanes as well as service lanes..
