Dairy federation slashes ghee price by Rs 50 per kg

INDORE: Unable to withstand glut and towering inventories, MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation has cut down farmers' remuneration and market price of ghee The federation that markets the brand Sanchi has cut farmers remuneration by Rs 20 to Rs 520 for 1 kg fat while price of ghee has been dropped by Rs 50 to Rs 400 per kg.The federation has demanded government subsidy to support the industry that is going through toughest phase. Surplus milk is being converted into powder and butter. The region is receiving about 60,000 litre of surplus milk every day which is being converted into powder and butter.Dwivedi said, "As supplies are huge, the federation decided to cut down the market price of ghee to Rs 400 per kg as against Rs 450 per kg earlier.
