Forest ranger held for helping poachers

INDORE: Special Task Force sleuths on Thursday arrested a forest ranger for allegedly helping poachers of a blackbuck by tampering with the evidence. Police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 on any information about absconding officer Bihari Singh Sikarwar, 59. Three forest officials who had allegedly tried to shield the poachers were already arrested, said Singh. "To weaken the case, the accused ranger had shown that a country-made firearm was recovered from the poachers instead of a 12 bore rifle which was used for hunting," said Singh. "He was arrested from his residence in Ganesh Dham Colony on Wednesday evening," said STF's DSP DK Singh.The poachers had killed a blackbuck at village Bakani which falls under Sagar forest range..
