Guru Nanak anniversary celebrations ‘Nagar kirtan’ with an appeal to cast vote marks Prakash Parv celebrations

Indore: Exhibiting their weaponry and martial arts skills with many scary stunts, Sikh community people clad in white kurta and a saffron turban, carried out nagar kirtan to mark celebrations for Prakash Parv (birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev in city on Sunday.This time, apart from spreading the message of love and togetherness, the community also urged people to cast vote on November 28. The truck was decorated with colorful lights. The nagar kirtan began from Imli Saheb gurudwara at Jawahar Marg and ended at the same spot after traversing the areas around Rajwada, Shastri Bridge, MG Road, Topkhana and Patel Bridge.The holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, was carried in a flower decked truck which had the palanquin as well. Devotees swept and washed road ahead of the truck and the procession , with five of them dressed as ‘panj pyaare’.The procession also saw participation of school students and minstrel groups from 32 gurudwaras of Indore and nearby cities- Betma, Rau, Pithampur and Ujjain.“Devotees exhibited their skills in weaponry, martial arts and also performed folk songs and dances along the procession route..
