Income tax survey unearths Rs 2 crore

INDORE: Income tax department conducted surveys at three firms in Indore and Mhow and unaccounted income to the tune of over Rs 2 crore has been unearthed. The survey that ended on Friday morning.Sources said, a survey was carried out on premises of a Mhow-based Modern Pathology Labs and unaccounted income worth Rs 1.15 crore was unearthed.In Indore, Singh Golden Transport Company and Supreme food products were surveyed by income tax department where they found to be hiding income of Rs 1.05 crore and Rs 50 lakh respectively.A total of Rs 2.55 crore has been recovered by the department during the survey on which these firms have agreed to pay the taxes. “Most of these units were not maintaining the correct book of accounts because they were evading taxes on the total income earned. Valuable documents have been seized from the premises of these entities and analysis of those documents may reveal further information on unaccounted income, according to the official source. The department said, names of these units popped up during data mining that pointed towards tax evasion.TNN.
