Blood samples of 44 patients with symptoms of chikungunya sent for test

Khargone: A team from district hospital found 44 people with symptoms of chikungunya at Nawalpura village till Sunday evening. "A health team including doctors is being sent to village Nawalpura, 20 kilometres from district headquarters, for the past three days. Till now 44 patients have been found suffering from high fever and joint pain, while 79 from other seasonal diseases," district health officer (DHO) BS Kanaye told TOI.He said that blood samples of the suspected chikungunya patients have been sent to Indore for test to confirm the type of fever they are suffering from.The symptoms among the 44 patients are similar to chikungunya and the health team is doing their symptomatic treatment. The teams have checked containers used for storing water and mosquito larvae were found at 12 places, he added.DHO said that chikungunya fever cases were found at two places in the district earlier.
