Karni Sena vandalises cinema hall in MP's Bargain district for screening Padmavati trailer

BARWANI: Activists of Rajput Karni Sena on late Sunday night vandalized a cinema hall in Anjad town for screening the trailer of controversial film 'Padmavati'.Virendra Talkies owner Dharmendra Jain told TOI that the theatre was screening another film via satellite when the trailer of Padmavati film started playing at around 10 pm.Local Rajput Karni Sena activists entered cinema hall and shouted slogans and vandalized the cinema hall. "Town Inspector of Anjad police station RR Chouhan told TOI, "Police force reached at cinema hall and controlled the situation soon after violence broke out. They also broke a tube light of the cinema hall premises and removed few posters of other films, Jain said.He clarified that screening of trailer was not intentional as it came between ongoing film and he was helpless.Jain said, "I am now trying to ensure that the trailer should not be screened in between ongoing film to harm the sentiments of the people. "He said that few days ago Karni Sena members had submitted a memorandum to tehsildar Anjad in the name of governor of MP not to show Padmavati film or it's trailer in the cinema halls.TI Chouhan said that cinema hall owner has been asked not to screen trailer of the film till it gets green signal from the authorities.Police haven't booked anybody in the matter so far.The makers of the movie 'Padmavati' have already postponed the release which was scheduled on December 1 after the nationwide controversies and protests.MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has on Monday also announced that Padmavati will be not released in the state..
