‘Lane driving system to be introduced on NH-8’

Jaipur: The state government believes strictly enforcing the lane driving system could help in reducing road accidents and plans to promote lane driving in the state on four and six-lane roads in the state.At its third ministerial committee meeting on road safety, home minister Gulab Chand Kataria said that as a pilot project, lane driving system would be introduced from Behror to Kishangarh on NH-8. He said, once the lane driving system is introduced, the transport department would also consider penalizing drivers who do not follow the lane system.He said, to inculcate the drivers the habit of lane driving, proper directions would be displayed on the four and six lane roads in the state. For this, the expenditure on equipment and other resources will be borne by the state transport department.Kataria added that a model road of 114-km from Behror to Deeg is under construction. In 2016-17, corrective actions were also taken on 1200 ‘black spots’.He said the modernization of the traffic police is also high on the agenda.
