In case they fail to comply with the order, such consumers will have to pay a penalty of Rs 2000 to large industrial power (LIP) connections and Rs 500 for others. However, he said in exceptional cases the executive engineer of the concerned area has the power to relax this condition. The JVVNL had introduced a lottery system to reward domestic consumers who pay their bills online and 100 such consumers selected every month through lottery were given discounts of Rs 5000 each in their next bills to promote online payments system..
