After fatal mishap village vows to banish alcohol

Jaisalmer: A village where three youths had died recently due to drunk driving launched a bid to ban alcohol in the region. After their death, villagers decided not to consume and offer liquor and to close down the sale of liquor in the village. Demanding to close a liquor shop in the village, they submitted memorandum to district collector, SP and excise officer.Earlier too, there have been fatal accidents and many diseases due to liquor in the village. In a meeting, all villagers unanimously decided to implement this decision and decided to take all steps to implement the same. The village meeting was held on Sunday after which the villagers on Monday staged a dharna outside the liquor shop and went to Barmer to apprise the district administration..
