Rajasthan High Court begins hearing in Samleti blast case

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan High Court has begun hearing on the appeal petition against the conviction of Dr Abdul Hamid for death and life sentence to six others in the Samleti bomb blast case which killed 14 people.Kashmiri youth Abdul Hamid and six others were convicted for carrying out a bomb blast in a Roadways bus at Samleti in Dausa in 1996.The court also simultaneously hearing the death reference against Abdul Hamid moved by the state government. The trial court had pronounced death penalty to Hamid in September 2014. So, the government also moved a death reference in the court.The hearing in the case will continue Wednesday as well in the 22-year-old case.Counsel for Hamid, Akhtar Hussain, said that the case has been dragging on for the past 22 years and the accused were languishing in jail..
