No need to observe MPPD on Feb 14

Jaipur: State education minister Govind Singh Dotasara has told government schools not to observe ‘Matru Pitru Poojan Diwas’ (MPPD) on Valentine’s Day on Tuesday. The MPPD was announced by the former education minister Vasudev Devnani in 2018 aiming to counter the influence of Valentine’s Day among youths.While interacting with mediapersons, Dotasara said, “There is no need to hold MPPD on a particular day in schools. I wish he should have continued the reforms initiated by our government,” said Devnani.The MPPD was first introduced by convict spiritual guru Asaram Bapu in 2007 against the celebration of Valentine’s Day.
