Actor-director-playwright Manav Kaul’s play Chuhal was recently staged at Jawahar Kala Kendra as part of the ongoing performing arts festival Navras. Written and directed by Kaul, the play follows the story of two strangers, Aarti and Sudhir, who meet through matchmaking. Manav said, “I like performing in Jaipur as the city is known for its love for literature and theatre. It’s a feminist play, something that I always support, so I wanted this to be staged in Jaipur. While Aarti was played by Srishti Srivastava, and Sudhir, played by Kaul himself, characterised two varied individuals with contrasting personalities.While Sudhir is a simple man, Aarti embodies an independent and strong feminine energy, who continually questions conventions..
