Smuggling of narcotics rising

Jaisalmer: With Lok Sabha elections just around the corner many cases of narcotics smuggling and its cultivation are coming to light. Around 10 days ago in two different cases doda post worth Rs 1.5 crore and 5,500 saplings of opium were recovered. There has been a rise in cases of cultivation of opium and doda post in Rajasthan. Similarly, police have recovered opium saplings in Ganganagar district and rural areas of Jodhpur.Jalore SP Kesar Singh Shekhawat told TOI that a special campaign has been launched in the district looking at the Lok Sabha elections. On getting information, police found illegal cultivation of opium at Asana and arrested Tagaram and recovered 2,820 opium doda post saplings, 770 stems of opium doda post and 3.1 kg of half dried opium doda post plants that has been estimated to be worth Rs 30 lakh..
