Rajasthan govt launches financial scheme for pregnant women, mothers

Summary:

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched the Indira Gandhi Maternity Nutrition Scheme under which the pregnant ladies of four districts of Rajasthan will be eligible to receive financial aid of ?6,000 in installments.

The first phase of the scheme has been launched in four tribal-dominated districts which include Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara and Pratapgarh.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched the Indira Gandhi Maternity Nutrition Scheme under which the pregnant ladies of four districts of Rajasthan will be eligible to receive financial aid of ?6,000 in instalments.

The first instalment of ?1,000 will be provided during the registration of pregnancy, the second instalment of ?2,000 will be handed out upon completion of six months of pregnancy and the third instalment of ?2,000, will be given after the birth of the child and completion of the first phase of vaccination.

Apart from this, an additional benefit of ?1,000 will also be given during delivery, under the banner of Janani Suraksha Yojana which is a safe motherhood intervention by the National Health Mission.

It is implemented with the objective of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among poor pregnant women.

JSY is a centrally sponsored scheme, which blends cash assistance with delivery and post-delivery care.

The first phase of the scheme has been launched in four tribal-dominated districts which include Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara and Pratapgarh.

The State Women and Child Development Minister, State Minister, Chief Secretary and many other senior officers were present during this virtual conference.
