Lyallpur college win overall sports trophy

Our CorrespondentJalandhar, August 17Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, won the Teja Singh Samundari Overall Sports Trophy of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, for the 24th time in line. College principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr Jaspal Singh, head, department of physical education, claimed the trophy on behalf of the college during the presentation ceremony held at Guru Nanak Dev University on Friday. The awards were presented by Radhe Sham Jhulaniya (IAS), Secretary, Sports, Department of Youth Affairs, GoI, and Dr Jaspal Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Meanwhile, a total of 188 sportspersons from the college were honoured on the occasion. Dr Samra expressed delight on winning the trophy for a record number of times with the latest feat being achieved with a mammoth total of 108 points with 13 first positions, 10 second positions and eight positions on the third spot accompanied by a cash prize of Rs 31,43,000 for the best performer sportsman from the college..
