Jalandhar, August 23Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today directed officials of the Irrigation and Drainage Department to complete the work of plugging the 350-ft-wide breach at Meowal by tomorrow. Notably, the work started a day after residents raised an alarm and began plugging the breach in the village which had already been the site of the first breach in Phillaur. The DC said the work of plugging the 350-ft-wide breach was going on in full swing. He thanked religious leaders of the area, including Baba Talwinder Singh (Kahana Dhesian), Baba Kashmira Singh and Baba Nirmal Singh for supporting the task. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also met volunteers and MGNREGA workers involved in filling of sand bags for plugging the breach..
