Employees hold protest in poll-bound Phagwara

Our CorrespondentPhagwara, October 12After protests by Pensioners Association, patwaris and anganwadi workers in poll-bound Phagwara, it was the turn of Democratic Mulazim Federation, which held a dharna on Saturday to protest against the ‘indifferent’ attitude of the government towards their long pending demands. A march was also organised by protesters led by state president of the federation Bhupinder Singh and its general secretary Ramanjit Singh. The protesters alleged that politicians belonging to various political parties were adopting selfish policies by giving false assurances to the people, including employees. Their major demands included fixing minimum salary of Rs18,000 per month ASHA workers and mid-day meal workers, restoration of old pension scheme and release of DA instalments..
