Excelsior CorrespondentJAMMU June 21: Residents of Ward numbers 47 and 48 of Bahu Fort area today staged protest demonstration against the PHE Department at Central Boria Pumping Station Kalika Colony Bahu Fort and demanded proper supply of potable water. They were chanting slogans against the PHE department and in favour of their demands. They put forth various demands including increasing timing of water supply as well as construction of new Overhead Tank for proper water supply of the said areas. Later the officers of Jal Shakti Department namely Rajinder Khajuria- XEN Civil Division Vijay Suman Gupta- XEN Mechanical Division along with concerned AEEs and JEs visited the protest site and assured the protestors for maintaining proper water supply of the said areas. Addressing the protestors Sham Lal Basson Councillor of Ward 48 said that there is acute shortage of drinking water in Bahu Fort area since long time and in this regards they informed the department concerned repeatedly but the department failed to resolve the problem so far..
