HC to dispose of 2500 juvenile cases by June

RANCHI: The number of pending cases pertaining to juvenile in the state has reached 2,477 and the Jharkhand high court aims to dispose them of by June 30.The HC has set a target for Juvenile Justice Boards to dispose of all the pending cases. Jamshedpur has 234 cases pending, Daltonganj 218, Gumla 202 and Ranchi 204. These districts have the highest numbers of pending cases under the Act.Cases related to juvenile are sensitive and the high court is focused to reduce the number, stated an official report. While Ranchi saw 125 cases being disposed of, Daltonganj saw 98, Dhanbad 87 and Jamshedpur 78.

however, Gumla, that has been given a target of 202, has disposed of only 25 cases. "The early disposal of cases is needed all the more under the Juvenile justice Act as the ability to bear stress in a child is lesser than in adults," said registrar general of the high court Ambuj Nath..
