JAMSHEDPUR: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Tuesday said his government is working on a plan to supply khadi-made clothes to schools as part of a plan to provide a wide market for khadi products in the state.Under the plan, Jharkhand State Khadi and Village Industries Board and Jharcraft will work jointly to take the schools on board for khadi school uniforms for their students and accordingly the supply will be made in a time-bound manner. He also said 60,000 women masons were given training in toilet construction at village and panchayat levels. "The objective of the initiative is to provide work to the scores of women who have completed training in sewing clothes from the training centers of the khadi board besides opening new markets for the khadi board," Das said while inaugurating the khadi board's sewing training centre at Birsanagar.Appealing to all families to use khadi fabric for stitching curtains, bedsheets and pillow covers, the CM said corporate houses should use khadi material at their offices and industrialists in their factories. "If the demand for khadi increases in the state, it will work wonders for the people, particularly women employed in the khadi industry," he said.Noting that promotion of khadi will be a great service to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Das said his government is on the way to achieve Swachha Jharkhand tag by November 15. "Though the central government has announced that the country will attain Swachh Bharat tag by October 2, 2019 when the country celebrates the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi ji, but Jharkhand will achieve that goal a year ahead," he said, pointing out that cleanliness is central to the Gandhian philosophy.Das further said in 2014, only 18% households in the state had toilets, but the figure stands at 99.9% today..
