Adityapur SMEs keen to have Jusco power

Close to 1,000 factories, including micro, medium and small enterprises are functional in Adityapur and Gamharia and only about 250 of them have Jusco power connections.Entrepreneurs said the issue of erratic power supply to the factories, particularly during the peak summer season can be checked substantially if power supply is totally outsourced to Jusco. He added that the installation cost for one KVA power supply is about Rs 8,000. JAMSHEDPUR: With the Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company ( Jusco ) all set to start power supply in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district within a month or two, the Small and Medium Enterprises ( SMEs ) in the Adityapur industrial town are keenly looking forward to switch over to the private player for its power requirements.Although 25% of the factories are receiving Jusco power currently, the remaining 75% are getting their power from state electricity board, Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL), but they are also are keen to shift to Jusco, a Tata Steel subsidiary.“The cost of installation for power supply in a factory is almost both for Jusco or JBVNL, but the quality of supply is what matters,” said Santosh Khetan, a functionary of the Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA)..
