Summary:

"If we go by the behaviour of this elephant, it seems it is unwilling to get back to the forest. "But our personnel are on the ground keeping an eye on the movement of the elephant to ensure there's no further damage to property or human life," Sinha said. Since January 26, the enraged elephant has demolished six houses and a damaged muri (puffed rice) manufacturing factory besides eating up sacks of paddy, trampling over fields and destroying crops. "We admitted the injured Baso Mardi to MGM hospital from where she was shifted to TMH on Monday," Dalma divisional forest officer Chandramouli Prasad Sinha said, adding that the woman has sustained severe injuries. Sinha said of the four rescue team members, one is on leave while three others are appearing in the JPSC exams and the rescue job has been hit to some extent..
