Notice to 16 Jamshedpur schools

JAMSHEDPUR: A week after East Singhbhum district superintendent of education (DSE) Shivendra Kumar said action will be taken against schools violating Jharkhand Education Tribunal (Amendment) Act, 2017, rules, show-cause notices have been issued to 16 private unaided English medium schools. On January 23, the education department had said that it is likely to issue the notice to the schools against whom complaints have been made. The notice was issued on Wednesday evening. The Right to Education (RTE) district cell issued the notices to the schools on Kumar's instructions.A few parent's outfits had complained to Kumar that English schools are demanding exorbitant fees on the pretext of re-admission charges, which is against the law. Kumar has also received complaints about schools allegedly insisting parents to purchase students' uniforms from the school.One of the complainant, Ankit Anand of Siksha Satyagrah, said he has written to Kumar against the 16 schools on two separate dates..
