DC orders Tenughat dam officials to ensure regular water supply to Bokaro

BOKARO: Deputy collector Rai Mahimapat Ray on Tuesday directed authorities of Tenughat dam division to ensure regular water supply to the Bokaro Steel Township by December 30. "Water supply will be restored to daily from January 1 against the supply of once in 48 hours now. The DC immediately directed executive engineer, of Tenughat Dam Division, A K Jha, to review the current status of the canal and report to him within 24 hours. I have directed Tenughat officials to ensure water supply is normalized by December 30," said DC The problem, which arose due to leakage in the Tenughat Canal, forced Union steel ministry and chief minister Raghubar Das to intervene and resolve the crisis. This was the first time when the BSL CEO visited the DC's chamber.The damaged embankment of 34 km-long canal, which carries water from Tenughat Dam to Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), was repaired and water supply was restored recently..
