PM's intervention sought in completing repair work of NH-33

JAMSHEDPUR: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SCCI ) has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to complete the long pending repair work of NH-33 as it is affecting trade and business in the mineral-rich region The national highway that connects Odisha and West Bengal with Jharkhand was being repaired for the past 8-10 years between Jamshedpur and Ranchi, SCCI General Secretary Vijay Anand Moonka wrote to the prime minister.The highway either gets washed away or damaged every monsoon hampering trade and business and causes frequent accidents, Moonka said in the letter on Wednesday.Despite a direction by the Ranchi High Court to the contractor concerned to complete the job within the time frame, the work has still been getting delayed, he said.Even the interference of National Highway Authority of India has been proved futile in this regard, Moonka alleged.Accidents occur in the potholed road followed by blockade by local people demanding compensation , and this affects transportation of goods causing immense loss to the business community, he wrote in the letter.Keeping in view the gravity of the situation, Moonka said he is seeking the prime minister's intervention to ensure that trade and business of this mineral-rich region prosper..
