JODHPUR: In pursuance of the desperation of former chief minister Ashok Gehlot , the Congress city unit of Jodhpur is gearing up to work on a strategy to win the two assembly constituencies, Jodhpur City and Soorsagar , in the upcoming state elections. “Yahan se Congress ko jitao, fir uska asar dekho (ensure Congress’ victory from here and see the effect),” he had said.Last time, the party had given ticket to Suparas Bhandari from Jodhpur City constituency and Jaifu Khan from Soorsagar constituency. Both the candidates were new and their selection as Congress candidates for the two seats had shocked many. The Soorsagar constituency was earlier a reserved seat but was opened to general candidates after the delimitation in 2008. Khan too lost”, said a party leader, adding that now the party could consider changing its strategy and may consider fielding a Brahmin candidate. This time again, the Congress leader has thrown challenge to the local party unit to ensure that history is not repeated.Referring to the two constituencies during his recent Jodhpur visit for the ‘Mera Booth, Mera Gaurav’ campaign, Gehlot told the party leaders and workers to ensure Congress victory on the two seats and see the impact..
