‘Comply with NGT order on mining in Jodhpur’

JODHPUR: Disappointed by the unabated mining activities in spite of the directions of the National Green Tribunal ( NGT ) to stop them with immediate effect, the villagers of Karwar near Jodhpur submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate demanding an immediate compliance of the tribunal’s directions.The NGT had cancelled all 23 mining leases in Karwar village on November 2 ordering them to close them after taking cognizance of the satellite pictures of the area.The petitioner’s counsel Jaideep Singh had informed the tribunal that rampant mining and blasting activities had been taking place in the area adjoining the village.Following the arguments, the bench of Justice Raghvendra Singh Rathore and Satyawan Singh Garbyal had directed the district magistrate and police commissioner of Jodhpur to ensure compliance of the order and submit a compliance report on December 3, 2018..
