Notices to home department, cops for not registering FIR

JODHPUR: High court has issued notices to the home department , DGP and other police officers seeking reply in two weeks for not registering FIR on written information of cognizable offence. But in spite of all these efforts, the FIR was not registered,” said the petitioner’s counsel Rajak Haider. Not only this, but the petitioners sent the same to the Superintendent of Police as well as IGP (Bikaner). According to an estimate, on account of this negligence of the police stations, 2,69,746 FIRs were registered through istegasa between 2013 and 2017 in India. Haider said that the petitioner filed a complaint in a local court against the negligence of the police in registering FIR, which sent it for further action to the same SHO, who was accused of not registering the FIR.After hearing the arguments, justice Bhati issued notices to the Principal Secretary (Home), DGP, IGP, SP and the SHO seeking reply in two weeks..
