Early detection of swine flu is key to curb it: Sawai Man Singh report

He said that health department officials at district level must conduct inspections in their respective areas. JAIPUR: With Jodhpur continuously reporting deaths due to swine flu, a team of doctors sent from Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh (SMS) medical college for helping health officials in containing the cases expressed the need for active surveillance, early identification of influenza-like illness and door-to-door survey for preventing mortality.In the state, 36 persons have died, out of which 16 deaths were reported from Jodhpur. In Jaipur, 17 persons were diagnosed with H1N1 influenza.On the direction of the health minister Raghu Sharma, a team comprising SMS medical college senior professor (medicine) Dr Raman Sharma and SMS hospital additional superintendent Dr Ajit Singh had recently rushed to Jodhpur to help doctors and health department officials in containing the flu.The team has submitted its report to the SMS medical college expressing need for strengthening activities for early diagnosis of the disease specifically patients who have comorbid respiratory disorders and other disorders related to kidney, liver and heart.The team inspected the facilities for critical care for stable and critical care patients..
