Rajasthan to get its first paediatric cath lab in Jodhpur

JODHPUR: State’s first and northern India’s third paediatric cath lab is coming up in Jodhpur. In Northern India, only AIIMS, Delhi and PGI, Chandigarh have the paediatric cath lab. “Now, open heart surgeries, valve-related surgeries and congenital heart ailments would be able to be carried out in Jodhpur itself,” Rathore said. Cardiac surgeon Subhash Balara said that with this lab, paediatric cardiology surgery will also develop in Jodhpur and that would be a big milestone for treatment of the heart problems of children below the age of 12 years. This cath lab, however, will be under control of paediatric department but the surgical procedures and post-operative care will be carried out by the cardiologists in coordination with the paediatrician.According to paediatrician J P Soni, this cath lab will be fully dedicated to children with all sorts of heart ailments and will soon be subjected to tender process with all the sanctions already obtained..
