UP: Truck driver dies as vehicle catches fire after collision

KANPUR: A truck driver was burnt alive when his vehicle caught fire after dashing against another truck at Gujaini area under the limits of Barra police station close to Bhaunti-Ruma Flyover on national highway-2 in the early hours of Saturday. The driver of one of the trucks, who sustained injuries, was trapped inside and got burnt alive. The driver could not come out and was burnt alive. The driver of other truck, which was badly devastated in fire, managed to come out of the vehicle in time," said a senior police officer.After the trucks caught fire the passers-by and locals attempted to rescue the trapped driver. The deceased truck driver was identified as Dharampal of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, and his family members have been informed, said an officer.The accident led to massive traffic snarls, and it took nearly eight hours to restore traffic on one of the lanes of the national highway-2..
