Rs 10 crore, 2 kg gold recovered in income tax department raid

KANPUR: The income tax department has reportedly recovered Rs 10 crore in cash, two kg of gold and other luxury items from the house of additional sales tax commissioner Keshav Lal, after conducting raids at his residences in Lakahnpur area of the city. The money has been recovered in new denomination notes.The IT team had reached Lal's Lakhanpur residence on Wednesday and conducted the raid till late at night. He was not at home during the raid.On Tuesday, the IT department reportedly conducted raids at the residences and offices of a city-based tour and travel operator for tax evasion.The officials had raided his offices in the city, Jaipur, Gwalior, Ajmer and Delhi. The officials will register a formal complaint in the case. Lal also has a house in Noida and a raid was simultaneously conducted there by IT sleuths.Sources said that this was one of the biggest raids on bureaucrats in the state by the IT department Sources said that Lal has failed to disclose the sources of the money and gold..
