City to play host to folk art extravaganza

Summary:

Traditional and unique folk art forms like Padayani, Mudiyettu, Theyyam, Kalarippayattu, Kurathiyattam, Nadanpattu, and tribal art forms will be staged on all the three days from 3.30 p.m.Apart from the traditional art forms closely linked to the history and heritage of the State, the programme will feature exhibitions, workshops, competitions, and symposiums. The highlight of the event will be the State-level inter-collegiate and school-level competitions focusing on the State’s traditional art, culture, rituals, clothes, tools, artefacts, and the way of life at large. ‘Nattarivu’, a State-level programme organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college in association with the Kerala Folklore Academy, will get under way on the campus on Thursday. It will also serve as a reminder of an organic and eco-friendly life which has been showing signs of revival of late. The three-day fest will be open to public from 3.30 p.m.
