Kerala floods: Her house was swept away but bride is ‘knot’ deterred

The temple authorities served a sadya to all participants after the ceremony.Anju’s home was submerged in heavy rain last week after the river overflowed. We decided to conduct the marriage as scheduled after the camp inmates and coordinators extended all support,” Anju’s mother Sobha said.Shaiju (27), the bridegroom, too reached the venue on time, and the knot was tied at ‘muhurtham’ between 10.30am and 11.30am in the presence of camp inmates as well as relatives. “My family was not directly affected by the flood but several families in my locality were affected.”Devaki, a neighbour who is also housed in the camp, said residents and the temple committee had helped in conducting the wedding..
