Kerala health minister opens National Cancer Grid state chapter

KOZHIKODE: Kerala minister for health and social justice K K Shailaja said on Saturday the state government would accord top priority to cancer prevention , screening and treatment.She said this while inaugurating the state chapter of National Cancer Grid (NCG) here. The NCG is coordinated by Tata Memorial Hospital under Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.A total of 33 delegates - including oncologists, stakeholders and policy makers as well as representatives of various governments, cooperative and private hospitals across the country - attended the programme. The NCG is a network of major cancer centers, research institutes, patient groups and charitable institutions across India with the mandate of establishing uniform standards of patient care for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer, providing specialized training and education in oncology and facilitating collaborative basic, translational and clinical research in cancer.The NCG, which was launched in 2012, has now covered 155 cancer centers and research institutes in the country..
