PWD under fire for violating CVC norms

The government in August 2015 had issued guidelines for selection of accredited agencies to execute public works. Audit criticized PWD for delay in finalization of tenders. Audit noticed that PWD did not exercise due diligence in selection of accredited agency through tendering and entrusted five works amounting to Rs 809.93 crore to ULCCS at estimate rates. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The comptroller and auditor general ( CAG ) – in its latest report on economic sector – said that public works department (PWD) violated central vigilance commission (CVC) norms by awarding contract, on nomination basis, to Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd (ULCCS).
