Kochi Metro gets intelligent data analytics platform

Summary:

KOCHI: The Metro has now got intelligent CPS data analytics platform for its transport system.With the launch of this project, it aims to design an innovative data analytics platform to enable seamless transport within Kochi Metro city. The data platform will collect, store and synchronize relevant data from the Metro rail system, Water Metro, bus and autorickshaw networks.The platform will enable passengers to have a real-time and artificial intelligence-assisted point-to-point trip planning at their fingertips for the fastest or cheapest modes of travel.MP Suresh Gopi inaugurated the joint research programme of KMRL, department of science and technology (DST), Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology (RSET) and Jyothi Engineering College (JEC), Thrissur , on Thursday.He later travelled in the Metro and planted a tree sapling near Aluva Metro station.Launching the project, Gopi said that the programme would be beneficial for each person using the Kochi Metro system.KMRL managing director A P M Mohammed Hanish, who presided over the function, said that this the first-of-its-kind project in the public transport sector in the country.KMRL said that Gopi would associate with all programmes of Kochi Metro that is being initiated to bring benefits to commuters.Bringing online and other private taxi services and parking solutions under this integrated data framework will be the future scope of this project.The research programme is under the principal leadership of Fr Jaison Paul Mulerikkal CMI (principal of JEC, Thrissur), Thomas Kakkassery, manager of JEC, Thrissur, and Fr Mathew Vattathara CMI, director of RSET..
