KSERC to evaluate power tariff details

Kochi | Monday | 13th November, 2017

Summary:

After a public hearing organised by the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) in Kochi on the power tariff in May this year, the commission had called for technical details from the project proponent, GJ Eco power.

It is a crucial month ahead for the waste-to-energy plant proposed at Brahmapuram as a decision on the power tariff to be produced from there will be taken by then.

The proposal is to generate power from the municipal solid waste generated from the city and the neighbouring local bodies and use it for power production.

For the Kochi Corporation, the interest in the project is confined to the management of municipal waste and the viability gap fund.

Once a provisional tariff is fixed, it would be binding on the Kerala State Electricity Board, commission sources said..
