Ex-corporator held for rape, vandalising survivor's house

KOLHAPUR: The Shahupuri police have arrested former corporator Pradip Ulape and his wife, along with six others, for allegedly vandalising a woman's house. While lodging her complaint, the woman also alleged that Ulape had raped her over a period of three years, following which he was also arrested on rape charges.The eight suspects were produced in court on Tuesday. She also alleged that he had threatened to kill her two sons. While Ulape's wife was remanded in magisterial custody, he and the six others were sent in police custody till November 15.According to the police, Ulape, who lives at Kasaba Bawada , had quarrelled with the woman on Sunday. Soon after, he, his wife and his supporters pelted stones at the woman's house and vandalised it.After the incident, the woman lodged a complaint with the Shahupuri police station alleging that Ulape had raped her from April 2015 to August 2018 at various places, including Katyayani Mal , a lodge in Laxmipuri and a house in Ulape Mala..
