Maratha outfits warn BJP want promises kept

Kolhapur: Sakal Maratha Samaj, the outfit that launched a statewide stir three years back, has warned the Fadnavis government that the community would not vote for the BJP if it does not fulfill its promises. They had demanded reservation for Marathas and death punishment to suspects in Kopardi rape and murder case. Gaikwad alleged that the government has not taken any step to implement the promise. They want the government to take some concrete steps before the election code of conduct comes into effect.Rambhau Gaikwad of Sakal Maratha Samaj told the media in Pandharpur that the Fadnavis government was not showing any signs of implementing the promises it made after the agitation. A state-level meeting of Sakal Maratha Samaj was attended by the representatives on Sunday.He added that the government had promised to withdraw the offences registered against around 14,000 men and women for their participation in the agitation but has failed to do so.Further, the government had announced job and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to 42 people, who died during the agitation..
