Immersion of idols changes surface tension of city-based water bodies

Kolhapur | Wednesday | 13th September, 2017

Summary:

Basically the pure water has the scientific value of surface tension 72 dyne/cm. "We witnessed that the surface tension had remarkably changed from the expected value except at the Kalamba Lake, due to prohibition to immerse any idol there this year. He said that such polluted water may affects directly on the biodiversity at that water resource. The students of the Physics department of the college under the guidance of Professor Milind Karanjkar, Head of the Department of Physics Vivekanand College, Kolhapur studied the surface tension of water after the immersion is finished. "He added that the team of four students and the staff members of the Physics department measured the surface tension in Rankala Lake, Kalamba Lake, Irani quarry, Koti Thirth pond, and Panchaganga River. It shows whether the water is polluted, clean or is having impurities in it..
