Cong can't fight it alone in Bengal: Somen Mitra

KOLKATA: Veteran Congress leader Somen Mitra on Sunday said that the party in Bengal is not in a position to fight it alone in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election . Lack of unity of the Congress workers at the booth level has prompted us to think about alliance,” Mitra said.During a meeting with the Congress president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi last week Mitra said that an alliance with the TMC can be an interim arrangement. Mitra said that it is up to the high command to take a call on the question of alliance. Congress had won 44 seats in the last 2011 Vidhan Sabha election , but 15 of the MLAs defected later to TMC. Some of the MLAs are now ready to join TMC during their July 21 programme,” Mitra said..
