Cancer patient donates land to set up med college

KOLKATA: A person suffering from cancer donated his land worth of Rs 5 crore to the local municipality in Hooghly district . Earlier, they donated land for cemetery. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered to set up a medical and nurse training college on the donated land.Achintya Kundu, a cancer patient of Hooghly district's Arambagh, has donated 5 bigha (one bigha equals to 1,618.7 square metres) land to set up a hospital for the people of the district. Achintya’s son Aranyadeep is also pursuing a medical degree.The Kundu family is well known for donating things for the benefit of the locality. Municipality chairman Swapan Nandi said, "We are honored to have such huge land.".
