WB: Dengue strikes Duttabad near Salt Lake

KOLKATA: Duttabad under Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation area bordering Salt Lake has been badly hit by dengue this year but the civic authorities are taking all measures to prevent the disease from further spreading.Ninety-five persons had attended the two medical camps in Duttabad on Sunday out of which blood samples were collected from 74 persons. Garbage piled up in several places have been cleaned up and bleaching powder and larvaecide have been sprayed.Civic authorities, however, said that overall the dengue situation in Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation area was much better compared to this time last year. On Saturday, 41 blood samples were collected out of which 16 persons had been tested NS 1 positive.The civic authorities have cleaned up a number of ponds in the area in the last two days where puddles of stagnant water were created due to piling up of waste..
