KOLKATA: The five-member advisory committee set up by the urban development department to take stock of the condition of 15 bridges and flyovers maintained by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority KMDA ) held its first meeting on Monday to chalk out its course of action.The committee plans to appoint a reputed consultant before the pujas for them to conduct a health audit. KMDA would float an expression of interest on this soon.“The plan is to appoint a consultant before the pujas for them to prepare the health study within two months from being commissioned,” said an official.Sources said that repair work of the bridges and flyover structures would be taken up based on what the consultant suggests and recommends after assessing the structural stability of the elevated structures and detect any internal structural damage..
