From stamps to posters: Exhibition on 100 years of Bengali cinema a hit

(Photo by Partha Paul)A exhibition titled ‘Chalchitro’, celebrating 100 years of Bengali cinema by showcasing rare posters of iconic Bengali movies, has attracted a large crowd at the 24th Kolkata International Film Festival. Meanwhile, another exhibition on 100 years of Australian cinema was also being held at 24th Kolkata International Film Festival. The first gramophone record of Bengali cinema, Chandidas (1932), is also on display. Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Harinder Sidhu, inaugurated the exhibition of posters of major Australian films. Posters of Pather Panchali (1955), Ganadebata (1978), Chokh (1982), Shotru (1984) and other films are being displayed in the exhibition..
