Govt s social security schemes find impetus with over 1 6 lakh registrations

Kolkata: Various social security schemes introduced by the state Labour department have received an impetus this year, with around 1,63,835 workers from various unorganised sectors registering themselves with the Samajik Suraksha Yojana, a flagship project by the Mamata Banerjee government. SSY has been implemented to cover the all the workers in the unorganised sectors who are in need of social security. According to the Labour department, Rs 52.36 crore had been disbursed against 51,089 claims, out of a total registration of 94,029 in the un-organised category. Her main objective was to extend the benefits of various social schemes to the labourers in different fields.
